Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner on Wednesday responded to scrutiny from Congressional Republicans about the city's ICE legislation. Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan sent Krasner a letter accusing his office of giving preferential treatment to undocumented immigrants.
House Republicans have issued a subpoena to Lesley Wolf, the assistant U.S. attorney in Delaware.
"The people's House is back in business," newly elected Speaker Mike Johnson told colleagues before being sworn in.
Rep. Mike Johnson is the fourth speaker nominee since McCarthy's removal and the second in a single day. He said that his intention is to go the House floor Wednesday for a noon speaker vote.
The House Republican Conference voted that Jordan should drop his bid in a closed-door meeting following an earlier vote on the House floor.
"I'm still running for speaker and I plan to go to the floor and get the votes and win this race," Rep. Jim Jordan said Thursday.
