Police are investigating whether a former Broomall reverend accused in the 1975 cold case murder of Gretchen Harrington is connected to other unsolved cases.
Now, many years later, police said the break in the case came after a confidential informant came forward saying she saw Harrington get into a car along Lawrence Road.
Joanna Falcone Sullivan wrote the true crime book "Marple's Gretchen Harrington Tragedy: Kidnapping, Murder and Innocence Lost in Suburban Philadelphia," on the murder mystery.
Joanna Falcone Sullivan was 9 years old in 1975 and living in Broomall, Delaware County, when 8-year-old Harrington was kidnapped while walking to a vacation bible school.
David Zandstra, 83, was charged with multiple offenses in the killing of 8-year-old Gretchen Harrington in Marple Township in 1975.
The case sent shockwaves through Broomall and Marple Township in 1975.
Prosecutors say David Zandstra, the Georgia man, was a family friend and even helped search for her as hundreds aided to help find the little girl.
Mark Himebaugh lived in Del Haven, Cape May County, and went missing when he was 11 years old in 1991.
