The tornado warning appeared on what was a sunny Saturday. Suddenly, there were fiercely swirling winds and afternoon darkness.
Saturday's tornadoes began in Nassau County, where an EF0 twister put down winds of 85 miles per hour.
Neighbors said they had to scramble with no time to run and no place to hide when the storm arrived.
The winds were fierce and the rain was heavy as the suspected tornado whipped through parts of Long Island, leaving behind a trail of damage and destruction.
