A trio of robbers broke into a house on Grove Street, robbed four women and a man. One of the women was sexually assaulted before another managed to escape.
"She was able to fight him off. He ran out and ran into the street," said Jersey City Police Chief Tom Comey.
Police said the suspect walked up behind the woman and grabbed her buttocks last Friday around 11:15 a.m. in Jamaica.
The suspect followed a 47-year-old woman off a bus near 140 Avenue and Coombs Street on Dec. 24 around 6:40 p.m. and then sexually assaulted her, police said.
Authorities are looking for two suspects, one of whom allegedly flashed a badge with a police logo and forced his victim to disrobe before sexually assaulting her in her apartment.
Hayward, 23, was sentenced to a total of 428 years behind bars.
"I helped her, because he dragged her behind my house," Lashanda Vickers told CBS 2's John Slattery. "I heard her screaming and I grabbed one of my big kitchen knives and I came out to help her."
The most recent victim suffered lacerations to her arms and face as well as a broken ankle.
