A NJ TRANSIT spokesman says a train carrying about 500 passengers became stuck in the tunnel heading into New York at about 5:40 a.m. when an overhead wire malfunctioned.
"I'm all for it, anything that gets us quicker to work," said Co-op city resident Mark Vargas.
The $7.4 billion mega project has been plagued with delays and far-off completion date, putting it on the back burner in the minds of many commuters.
Trains currently go 135 miles per hour on that section of the Northeast Corridor.
