Realtor: Suffolk's Main Street-Oriented Towns Becoming Big Sellers

HUNTINGTON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Certain areas on Long Island are becoming real estate gold mines.

As WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported, when you buy a house, you hope the property increases in value as quickly as possible.

According to real estate agent Lisa Kennedy, in areas like Patchogue, Babylon, Huntington and Sayville in Suffolk County, you may pay a little more for a house near Main Street, but the investment is worth it.

"Buyers are more looking for a community feeling. They're looking for a local hardware shop where they can ask the guy who's been there forever," she said.

Kennedy said areas of Long Island that offer a Main Street type of vibe with pizza places and coffee shops are more desirable than ever.

"...Because they want a feeling of community when they come home on the weekends or after work," she said.

Kennedy said there's definitely an increase in demand for those areas, making it a win-win for buyers and realtors.
