Still No Funding For Hudson River Tunnel Project

TRENTON, N.J. (CBS 2) -- Federal and local government officials continued to dig for solutions to help keep the Hudson River Tunnel project on track.

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said he will work with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie on alternative options for a tunnel between New York and the Garden State.

On Thursday, Christie killed the $8.7 billion dollar, saying cost overruns would hurt the Garden State, but Christie had a change of heart on Friday after a meeting with the transportation secretary.

"We had a very good meeting. And I believe over the next two weeks he will listen to a number of options that we will present," said Ray LaHood.

Canceling the project could cost New Jersey billions in federal aide.
