These Twin Monkeys Are Small But Mighty Cute

1010 WINS – These newborn twins are the smallest species of monkey on earth!

When these adorable Eastern Pygmy Marmosets were born at the Chester Zoo in the UK, they each weighed an astounding .03 pounds.

But even when they're fully grown, the twins will only measure a mere 5 inches in length.

Since the animals are so tiny, they weren't able to be seen in their natural habitat. It wasn't until they were four weeks old that the adorable monkeys were noticeable.

According to Dr. Nick Davis, the Deputy Curator of Mammals of the zoo, "Pygmy marmosets actually have relatively large babies for their tiny size," he wrote. "An adult will only weigh up to around 150 grams and so each baby equates to around 10% of its body weight."

After the marmoset mother gives birth, it's time for the father to take on the responsibility and care for the twins, so the mother can recuperate.

While these monkeys may be tiny, they sure are mighty cute!
