Seton Hall Holds Prayer Service For Slain Student

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. (AP)-- A Seton Hall University student slain in an off-campus shooting is being remembered as "a gentle soul" who was mature beyond her years.

Jessica A. Moore, an honors student from Disputanta, Va., was shot and killed at the Sept. 25 party less than a mile from the university campus. Four others were injured.

The Star-Ledger of Newark reports that hundreds of students, friends and relatives gathered Wednesday in Walsh Gymnasium on the South Orange campus for a prayer service in Moore's memory.

Melinda Papaccio, who taught Moore, read excerpts from a freshman term paper Moore turned in last spring.

She wrote: "I am a black, beautiful girl who sings the songs of rainbows."
