NEW YORK (CBS 2) -- Thursday is sentencing day for two men convicted in the killing of an Ecuadorian man in Brooklyn.

Jose Sucuzhanay and his brother were walking home from a Bushwick bar in December 2008 when two men began yelling anti-gay and anti-Hispanic slurs.

Hakim Scott smashed a bottle over Ducuzhanay's head and chased his brother down the street.

Keith Phoenix was convicted of the murder as a hate crime and could face life in prison. Scott was convicted of manslaughter and is facing a possible 25 year sentence.
