Rex Ryan's Jets Nominated For SBJ's Team Of The Year

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Rex Ryan hasn't guaranteed this win, there's no indication whether it's "personal," and we're not sure if Bart Scott "can't wait!" for the awards ceremony. What we do know is the Jets have been nominated for the SportsBusiness Journal's Professional Sports Team of the Year award.

"I think we have the most innovative, hard-working staff in sports, and I'm really pleased to see their work recognized," Matt Higgins, Jets executive vice president of business operations, said on the team's website. "We really appreciate the SBJ for noticing the transformation that has taken place at the Jets over the years."

According to the SportsBusiness Journal, finalists "will be evaluated on excellence, growth, creativity, innovation, sound planning, implementation and outcomes."

If sheer volume of franchise scandals were to be taken into account, the Jets would be a shoo-in.

Sal Alosi's "Tripgate," the Jets' locker room treatment of TV Azteca reporter Ines Sainz, Ryan's alleged foot fetish videos, HBO's obscenity-laced "Hard Knocks," Deadspin's texting saga between Jenn Sterger and Brett Favre, Antonio Cromartie's profane rants toward Tom Brady, Matt Hasselbeck and the players' union -- the list goes on.

The New Meadowlands Stadium was also nominated for the Professional Sports Facility of the Year award.

"We're excited about the nomination," Thad Sheely, executive vice president of finance and stadium development, said. "It recognizes the tremendous achievement developing and opening the new stadium, which is the proud home of the Jets."

The Sports Business Awards will be presented at the Manhattan Mariott Marquis on May 18.
