Report: New Deal For Yankees' Brian Cashman 'Just About' Done

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Brian Cashman's three-year, $6 million pact with the Yankees is less than a week from its expiration date.

But he isn't too worried -- perhaps for good reason. A new contract for the general manager is "just about" done and could be announced this week, the New York Daily News reported Thursday.

Cashman, whose deal is up at the end of the month, has said many times that he'd liked to remain in the Bronx. The 44-year-old was hired as Yankees general manager in 1998.

"It'll get done between now and Oct. 31st, I'm sure," Cashman said last week, according to MLB.com. "It could get done over the phone, from my perspective."

The contract situation hasn't kept Cashman from brainstorming New York's many looming issues. He was in Tampa on Wednesday with other high-ranking team officials to presumably discuss CC Sabathia's opt-out situation, whether or not to re-sign Nick Swisher and how to deal with Jorge Posada.

And now super-agent Scott Boras is reportedly pressing the team to work up a new contract for his client, Robinson Cano.

"I know it's something that everybody has to follow," Cashman told MLB.com about his contract. "But that's not a pressing circumstance."

What kind of deal should the Yankees hand Cashman? Let 'er rip in the comments below...
