Red Hook Woman Pleads Guilty In Hit-And-Run Deaths Of 2 Bard Students

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) - A 64-year-old woman has pleaded guilty in the hit-and-run deaths of two college students struck by her vehicle as they walked along a Hudson Valley road.

The Poughkeepsie Journal reports that Carol Boeck of Red Hook pleaded guilty Thursday in Dutchess County Court to aggravated vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a personal injury automobile accident.

The plea was made just as jury selection had begun in her trial for the deaths of 19-year-old Sarah McCausland of Winnetka, Illinois, and 20-year-old Evelina Brown of Seattle. The women and a third Bard College student were walking along Route 9G in the village of Tivoli shortly before midnight on Jan. 31 when they were hit by Boeck's vehicle.

The third student survived.

Boeck faces seven to 21 years in prison when she's sentenced Feb. 24.
