2-year-old boy hospitalized after falling out of Queens third-floor window, police say
Police said a 2-year-old boy is recovering after falling from a Queens apartment building window on Thursday.
Though the scene was cleared by late in the afternoon, there remain questions about how the little boy fell from the third-floor window.
Police said a 911 call came in just before 2:30 p.m. for an injury at 102-10 Queens Blvd. When officers arrived, they found the boy conscious and responsive. He was then rushed to Cohen's Children's Medical Center.
Video shows the window screen on the ground. It's unclear if the window had a window guard, which is required by New York City law to keep kids from falling out of buildings. The investigation continues.
Several people gathered outside the building, trying to make sense of what happened.
"I'm just coming home, so I'm finding out about this right now. It is shocking," resident Nick Dubrowski said. "My heart goes out to the family. That's horrible news and it's really tragic, especially since I've been here for a few years."
