Police: Sanitation Worker Charged With DWI In Brooklyn After Crashing Into Hyundai
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A New York City Sanitation Department worker was arrested Tuesday for DWI after crashing into a sedan in Brooklyn.
Authorities said a preliminary investigation determined the 30-year-old sanitation worker drifted into oncoming traffic on Grand Street and Bushwick Avenue in East Williamsburg. He then slammed his garbage truck into a gray Hyundai Elantra carrying two passengers.

The driver of the Hyundai had to be cut out of the car. The passenger was able to get out of the vehicle himself. Both men in the car were taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition.
"You heard like a really big bang, like a boom. That's why everybody ran out and was like 'oh my goodness. I hope the guy's okay,'" one woman told 1010 WINS' Al Jones.
The sanitation worker, meanwhile, was given a Breathalyzer test and failed, according to police. He was subsequently arrested for drunk driving. Further charges are pending.
