Police Rescue Swimmer 'On Mission From God' In New York Harbor
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Park police rescued a swimmer after he dove into New York Harbor between a New Jersey park and Liberty Island.
The unidentified 29-year-old man stripped down to swim trunks and dove into the water from a Liberty State Park footpath on Sunday.
The New York Post reports a witness called 911 about 45 minutes later after noticing the man was in trouble.
Police said he claimed he was on a mission from God.
