Police Hunt For Prisoner Who Escaped In Lower Manhattan
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police were searching Wednesday night for a prisoner who escaped while being transported in lower Manhattan.
As CBS 2's Dave Carlin reported, police sources confirmed that the male prisoner, who was wearing a gray bubble coat, went missing around 8 p.m. from the central booking section of the courthouse complex at 100 Centre St.
Police would not identify the suspect or say why he was in custody.
The escape brought dozens of additional officers to the courthouse and to other areas of the city, where they were looking for the man. Officers were also reviewing surveillance video from the courthouse cameras.
