Police, Family Search For Missing Medford Woman Sarah Goode

MEDFORD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police and loved ones were asking for help from the public Monday in finding a young Long Island mother who disappeared Friday under suspicious circumstances.

Sarah Patricia Goode, 21, went to work Friday, and vanished after a night of watching TV with friends, 1010 WINS' Mona Rivera reported.

Goode's sister, Elizabeth DeMuria, was in tears of anguish as she talked about the missing woman, reported CBS 2's Jennifer McLogan. Goode is the mother of a 4-year-old daughter, a graduate of Longwood High School Middle Island, and a medical technician.

She was described as gracious and outgoing.

Her gray 1999 BMW was found on Fire Avenue near New London Avenue in Medford – one mile from the home she shares with her mother and daughter, a fact that Suffolk County police Detective Sgt. Michael Fitzharris called suspicious.

"We were very concerned about that," Fitzharris said. "This is a 21-year-old lady. She has a 4-year-old daughter, a very close family -- and the circumstances, as I've explained, are suspicious to us."

There were apparent signs of a struggle inside Goode's unoccupied BMW, which police towed away – leaving the neighborhood fraught with anxiety.

"We're horrified – I mean, we're praying that she, you know, maybe just didn't tell her parents where she was going," one neighbor said.

One witness also said there appeared to be blood in Goode's vehicle.

Police have been searching a wooded area near where the car was parked, Rivera reported. Officers were armed with machetes and other tools to cut through brush as they scoured through the woods.

But nothing had been found as of Monday.

"Your baby girl can't wait to give you that great big hug when you come home. We just want you to come home safely," sister DeMuria said tearfully. "Please, if anybody knows anything, please let somebody know."

Authorities said Goode recently broke up with her boyfriend. However, they said they are not currently seeking a person of interest, WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs reported.

Fitzharris described Goode as having no drug or alcohol problems.

She is described as white with a light complexion. She is 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighs 100 pounds and has long, brown hair with blond highlights, brown eyes and a flower tattoo on one foot.

Anyone with information about Goode's whereabouts is asked to call Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at (800) 220-TIPS.
