"It was a really horrible scene," Timothy Anderson of Brooklyn, who was reading a book inside Bryant Park when he heard a violent crash, told 1010 WINS' Glenn Schuck. "All of a sudden I just heard this screech, like a loud 'bam.' One car was totaled, and there was a yellow taxicab on its side with the roof sheared off. It appeared to hit a tree."

After hearing the crash, Anderson ran to the scene and saw people lying on the sidewalks, screaming for help.

Left on the sidewalk on Sunday morning were newspaper dispensers, twisted and mangled.

Charges haven't been filed against the driver of the car that caused the accident.
