Police Arrest Suspect In Fatal Stabbing In Times Square
NEW YORK (AP) -- Police have arrested a suspect in the fatal stabbing of a man outside a Theater District bar in Midtown Manhattan.
Twenty-year-old Atdhe Gashi was arrested Sunday on a charge of second-degree murder in the death of Elliot Paulino.
A man who answered the phone at Gashi's Yonkers home and identified himself as a relative said Gashi had surrendered to authorities. He said Gashi was innocent. The man refused to give his name.
Police say Paulino was found stabbed twice in the torso outside the Playwright Tavern on 49th Street near Broadway early Saturday morning.
They say the 25-year-old had been in a dispute, but couldn't say if more than one person was involved.
Paulino was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
