Paterson hosts Ramadan Hilal lighting ceremony
PATERSON, N.J. -- The city of Paterson hosted a Ramadan Hilal lighting ceremony Wednesday.
The Hilal, or crescent moon, is of great significance because it marks the beginning and end of the holy month.
During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn until sunset.
Paterson is home to the largest Muslim population in New Jersey.
