Officials: Speed May Be Factor In Fatal NY Crash

RANSOMVILLE, N.Y. (AP) -- Speed appears to have contributed to a car driving off a road in upstate New York near Lake Ontario and crashing into some trees, killing two teenagers and injuring three others.

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office says charges are expected against the 19-year-old driver, who was listed in stable condition.

They say 17-year-old Taylor Messing and 19-year-old Jeremy Campbell died in Saturday's crash in Ransomville. The hamlet is in the town of Porter, on the south shore of Lake Ontario about 32 miles north of Buffalo.

The sheriff's office say 17-year-old Keith Burns was in stable condition at Erie County Medical Center.

An unnamed 15-year-old female was treated and released from the hospital.

Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
