Nice stretch of weather ahead for NYC area before heightened storm chance returns

A nice stretch of weather kicks off the week in the New York City area before a heightened chance of rain returns.

A quick-moving line of showers and storms produced between 1-2 inches of rain in some locations Sunday morning. The heavy rain did lead to some flash flooding in places like Newark, New Jersey.

Sunday night, rain chances will come to an end, and humidity levels will drop. This will lead to a clear and comfortable night, with lows in the low to mid 60s. There will even be some 50s north and west.

Lots of sunshine and low humidity will be in place on Monday, with highs right around 80 degrees. A stray shower or storm is possible in the afternoon and evening hours.

Similar conditions will continue through Wednesday.

Higher humidity levels do return on Thursday, along with a heightened chance of showers and thunderstorms.
