NYC Named A Top Spot For Bachelors In 2011

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- New York City is always topping rankings and lists, so it comes as no surprise it was just named one of the top spot for bachelors in 2011.
In what they're calling "the ultimate guide for single men looking for adventure in new places," AskMen Magazine released a list of the top 29 cities for single men to visit in 2011. The rankings -- based on factors like average cost of a beer, the number of single women and the weather -- put New York City at #4 (out of 29), just after Barcelona, Buenos Aires and Miami.
The magazine then delved deep into the Big Apple, taking on the gargantuan task of narrowing down and naming the city's best burgers, outdoor bars and local beers.

"The venues were visited and vetted by our local writers," Jeremy Berger, AskMen's New York City Editor, told CBSNewYork. "It's a sampling of what's out there, representative of the different categories that offer something for guys."
So seriously, where is the best burger in town?
The magazine named Chelsea's Corner Bistro as the house with the best beef bites.
"Chelsea Bistro is well-worn," said Berger. "Perfectly cooked bacon cheeseburger, on a paper plate, with just the right amount of grease and no pretense. It feels like a college bar, but it's on a beautiful block in the Village."
Rounding out the list: West Village gem The Spotted Pig, DBGB of the East Village, New York City favorite Shake Shack and and Brooklyn's Dumont.
Little Italy's The Mulberry Project was named the city's best outdoor bar.
"It's about the drinks and the vibe," Berger said. "You get cocktails, including a new menu of frozen drinks, by some of the city's best-known mixologists and it isn't uptight like cocktail bars can be."

For the finest slice of pizza in the city, Brooklyn appears to be the borough boasting nearly all the best selections, with Lucali of Carroll Gardens taking top honors.
"I'm partial to Lucali because you can bring your own drinks," Berger said.
Paulie Gee's, Totonno's Coney Island and Di Fara also made the top five. The East Village's Motorino was the only non-Brooklyn joint to win "top slice" accolades.

And according to the magazine editor, the rankings, which were partially determined by input from social media outlets like Foursquare, take into consideration the gay population, as well.
"This list would certainly apply for gay men," said Berger. "Save for the women category, obviously. All of the other categories represent things men of any sexual orientation can and do enjoy."
