Long Island Restaurant Fights For Right To Open Rooftop Bar
NORTHPORT, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Plans for a rooftop pub have a Long Island village divided and the matter is going to court.
Owners of the Skipper's Pub on Main Street in Northport are suing for the right to open a rooftop bar after village officials turned down the request.
Some residents argue an outdoor pub isn't consistent with the charm and the quaintness of the North Shore village, while others feel differently.
"Keep the charm of the place the way it is, they don't want too much nightlife," one resident said.
"That's a perfect idea and a perfect location for it," one resident, named Michael, said. "I personally think it's time for them to loosen up a bit."
"I think if they let this happen they can deal with it, I think they can work it out," a resident, named Brian, said.
The matter is now in Suffolk County Supreme Court.
