NJ School Agency Leader To Appear At Hearing

TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The CEO of New Jersey's Schools Development Authority was set to explain how his agency decided to spend $584 million on 10 schools in poor districts.

Lawmakers on the Assembly Education Committee were scheduled to quiz Marc Larkins Wednesday.

They want to know what criteria were used to pick the schools out of 52 projects in the pipeline before Gov. Chris Christie halted work for a top-to-bottom review.

The SDA has jurisdiction over 31 of the state's poorest districts. The agency has been restructured under Larkins, who Christie appointed.

Christie announced the list of school projects in February. Larkins has said two are likely to begin construction this year.
