Mixing competition, random knowledge, friends and beer, bar trivia is one of New York's favorite weeknight activities. Here are a couple places you can go to down some cold ones and put all those useless facts and movie quotes you've memorized to good use.

Crash Mansion

199 Bowery (between Rivington and Spring Streets)

Perhaps one of the most engaging trivia venues there is, Crash Mansion holds games that include big prizes...$200 to the winner. The game begins at 8 p.m. and is $7 to play. The competition is intense and the questions can get tough, with some falling into the "who would ever know that" variety. The game takes place on Monday nights, and it is 21 or older to get in.

The Slipper Room

167 Orchard Street (at Stanton Street)
(212) 253-7246

TEMPORARILY CLOSED. On Monday nights, The Slipper Room hosts "The Big Quiz Thing" at 8 p.m. Here, competitors also have the chance to take home $200 or $50 for coming in second. Entry is $7. Get there early though to get a table because the bar fills up fast.

1465 Third Ave (between 82nd & 83rd Streets)

The Gael holds it's Pub Quiz every Tuesday at 9 p.m. The game is free to play and the winning team gets a $50 bar tab. Be sure to get there by at least 8:30 p.m. to ensure a table. The Trivia Night questions tend to be a lot of movie/entertainment questions, but also include picture and "name that song" ipod rounds.

The Dubliner

(212) 785-5400

Each Tuesday, TriviaTryst puts on the trivia night at The Dubliner. Questions are from a variety of categories including fashion, science, music and current events.
