MTA Asking Retirees To Return To Work Due To Staffing Shortages

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Facing a staffing shortage, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority is calling on retired train operators to return to work.

Transit officials have asked approximately 700 recently retired workers to come back to their old jobs for up to 90 days.

The agency says it lost nearly 5,000 workers since the start of the pandemic.

At times, the shortage has led to service delays.
