3/20 CBS2 Sunday Afternoon Weather Headlines
By Matt DeLucia
CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer
Good afternoon! It's the first day of spring, but definitely not feeling like it out there. Increasing clouds this afternoon will lead to some rain/snow showers moving in early this evening. This will quickly change to a wet snow after sunset as temps drop from near 40 into the 30s. Winter weather advisories are up for Nassau, western Suffolk and the NJ coastline. Winter storm warning is posted for eastern Suffolk, where the highest totals are expected.
Snow continues overnight, and it moves out early tomorrow morning from west to east, but not before causing some slick roads east of the city for the AM commute. Totals will range from a trace in the western suburbs to 1-2" in the city, 2-4" for Nassau and along the Jersey coast, and the highest totals of 4-6"+ heading out to the Twin Forks.
The good news if you want spring weather? It's coming! Temps steadily climb through the week and will be in 60s by midweek. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and check soon for the latest on this messy storm!
