Man Arrested In Attack On Nassau County Restaurant Employee
HICKSVILLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A man was arrested and charged with assault Monday, for allegedly hitting a restaurant employee in the head with a bar stool in Nassau County last fall – leaving him with lost sight in one eye.
On Oct. 19, Premaras Selvaratnam, 31, of East Meadow, was out with friends at the Copper Wok Restaurant, at 16 W. Marie St. in Hicksville, Nassau County police said.
The group began causing a disturbance, and an employee of the restaurant asked them all to leave, police said.
But Selvaratnam did not leave. He instead hit the 36-year-old male employee in the head with a bar stool, causing lacerations to the employee's head and an eye injury, police said.
The victim was treated at an area hospital for his injuries, and lost sight in his left eye.
On Monday, Selvaratnam was arrested and charged with second-degree assault. He was set to be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
