Two-thirds of the Axis Powers join forces here at Basta Pasta, where Italy meets Japan to bring you the best of both worlds. Though the star of the menu is definitely the pasta, there is definitely a strong Japanese influence. Take, for example, the lunch menu - a three course prix fixe priced reasonably at $18 for your choice of soup or salad, pasta main course, and a dessert (with coffee, tea or espresso) - which offers such unique dishes as fettucine with ratatouille, Shiitake mushrooms and mozzarella in a fresh tomato sauce, or spaghetti with shrimp, red onions, fresh tomatoes, jalapenos & cilantro in garlic oil. Yum!

Good enough to eat; the name says it all. Of course, there's more: a very reasonably priced lunch menu that offers homemade soups, salads, and chili of the day, along with friendly service with a smile. Try the smoked salmon sandwich; served with goat cheese, tomato and watercress on whole wheat toast and fresh fruit or salad, it is sure to please without bogging you down so that you'll want a nap after lunch.

Originally located in Brooklyn, Patois made the move to lower Manhattan over a year ago - to the disappointment of Brooklyn locals and the elation of Little Italy residents. With a $9.95 lunch menu, Patois offers up inexpensive French fare to those in the know, who gobble it up. Snug among the standard lunch menu items like salads, brunch-like egg dishes, and sandwiches, there lies two incredible finds: whole roasted trout with greens, and hangar steak frites (pictured). $9.95? Not a bad lunch at all, friend.
