Police: Man Kidnapped Ex-Girlfriend Fled To Georgia After Her Escape

OAKDALE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A man was arrested in Georgia after he kidnapped his ex-girlfriend from her Long Island home on Wednesday, police said.

According to investigators, 23-year-old Christopher Ryan, of Medford, broke into his former girlfriend's home on Brook Street in Oakdale around 5 a.m. and forced the woman into her 2014 Mercedes-Benz.

Police said the woman was able to escape from Ryan when they stopped momentarily in Ozone Park, Queens.

Ryan then took off in the victim's car, police said. He was picked up by the Camden County Sheriff's Office in Georgia around 10:25 p.m. Wednesday.

Ryan is expected to be extradited back to New York to face burglary, robbery and kidnapping charges at a later date.

The 46-year-old victim suffered minor injuries, police said.
