BRENTWOOD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A 28-year-old Queens man was killed early Saturday morning when his Cadillac rear-ended a tractor-trailer on the Long Island Expressway east of exit 53 in Brentwood, Suffolk County police said.

Sergio Vargas was driving east when his car hit the tractor trailer around 5:10 a.m., causing the truck to flip, police said.

Vargas died at the scene.

His passenger, 28-year-old Sasha Adams, of Bellport, was taken in a police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the tractor-trailer truck, Juan Arroyave-Garcia, 37, of Englewood, New Jersey, suffered minor injuries.

The crash is under investigation.
