Lincoln Center Gets Raves As 'Fashion Week' Venue

NEW YORK (CBS 2) -- Opening night of Fashion Week was all about new beginnings. This year Bryant Park is out of the picture and the curtain rose on the event's brand new venue, Lincoln Center.

"Everybody in the industry is excited to be at Lincoln Center," Robbie Myers, Editor-in-Chief of Elle Magazine, told CBS 2's Dave Carlin.

"It's really elevating fashion to where it needs to be with the other arts," Myers added.

Lincoln Center has 30 percent more space for the estimated crowd of more than 100,000 visitors over the seven days.

Nearly 100 designers are showing at Fashion Week, including students of the Rhode Island School of Design.

"It's a dream come true." said student designer Sang Dihn, who debuted his creations on the runway.

The big draw for night one was a how from former club kid and designer of pop star fashions, Richie Rich.

Wowed by his colorful creations was a woman who goes by the name "Breezy."

"To be in a whole room full of nothing but fashion people it's a great feeling," she said.

Fashion week fun continues through Sept. 16.
