The Knicks say Lin had successful surgery on his chronic small meniscal tear in his left knee.

The procedure was performed by team orthopedist Dr. Answorth Allen at the Hospital for Special Surgery.

Lin tweeted along with the photo: "Praise God for a successful surgery...road to recovery! Lets goo. Much love to the fans for your support and kind words."

"Thanks to Dr. Answorth Allen," he wrote in another post, "Dr. Lisa Callahan and all the nurses for a great surgery!"

The global phenom later held a question and answer session on his Facebook page.

When asked if he'd be back for the playoffs, Lin wrote: "i hope ill be back for the playoffs! its killin me to watch the team without being able to play but i need to make sure my knee is 100% before i get back on the court so we will wait and see."

He is expected to be out for about six weeks.
