The Yankees lost their second straight game to the A's on Wednesday after failing to drive in runners from third base with less than two outs again. And aside from that, CC Sabathia was unable to pick up his 18th win of the season after losing the lead in the eighth inning.
The two losses move the Yankees into a tie in the loss column with the Red Sox, but with the Red Sox having won the two more games they have played than the Yankees, the Yankees trail in the division by one game. The two teams will have a chance to sort that out next week at Fenway Park.
