Jennie Finch To Follow In Amani Toomer's Footsteps, Run NYC Marathon For Charity

NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) — Retired softball star Jennie Finch will run the 2011 ING New York City Marathon for charity.

The 31-year-old Finch gave birth to her second son in June. She'll start last in the field, and sponsor Timex will donate $1 to New York Road Runners' youth programs for each person she passes.

Former Giants receiver Amani Toomer did the same last year and overtook more than half the field, raising $25,817.

This is Finch's first marathon. She ran a half-marathon while 20 weeks pregnant.

Finch won an Olympic gold medal in 2004 and silver in 2008. She retired last year.

The NYC Marathon will be run on Nov. 6.

Will Finch pass more runners than Toomer did in 2010? Sound off in the comments below...
