WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reports
Nassau County Police Sgt. Dennis Ude says the the pair posted a phony ad on Craigslist for a house in Long Beach for rent.
The major problem was that the father and son, 57-year-old Ezekiel Ramasir and 27-year-old Elviston Ramasir of Manorville, did not own the house.
In fact, according to Ude, the pair broke into the home while it was being renovated to show the house to possible tenants.
In the end, a woman and her daughter-in-law were scammed out of $3,100.
"After several attempts to move in to the premises, the victims asked for the money back," said Ude. "The defendants refused to return their money."
If convicted, the pair each face seven years behind bars.
