Police Seek 3 Men Who Conned, Robbed Woman At West Hempstead Home

WEST HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- An elderly woman was conned and then robbed at gunpoint on Long Island.

As WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported, it happened on Wildwood Road in West Hempstead.

Authorities said a 73-year-old woman let a man inside her home because she thought he was the repair person she was waiting for. But he was actually a thief, Hall reported.

As the man stole cash and jewelry, police said two more suspects appeared. One of the men had a gun and threatened the woman, police said.

The trio then left with the victim's belongings. So far, no arrests have been made.

Police are urging residents not to let strangers inside your home.
