Victim speaks out after deadly Bronx car meetup shooting, robbery: "These men were threatening my life"
An 18-year-old was shot and killed during an armed robbery at an early morning car meetup in the Bronx Sunday.
The teenager was shot in the head.
The shooting happened outside a scrap yard in Baychester on East 233rd Street not far from Boston Road and Clementine Street.
A woman who was also robbed in that incident and wanted to remain anonymous for her own safety spoke with CBS News New York over the phone.
"We were robbed at gunpoint," the woman said. "These men were threatening my life. My jewelry was not easy to take off. You hear them yelling, 'Take it off, take it off of her, we're going to have to kill her.'"
The woman is one of five victims in total, according to the NYPD. Three people were shot, including the 18-year-old who was killed. Two others, including the woman who spoke with CBS News New York, were robbed of their valuables.
"Next thing you know, that happened. These cars are driving away, but they start shooting at us," she said. "I was scared. I have children. I was scared."
People who work along East 233rd Street said car meetups and crime are common in the area. Earlier this year, police arrested seven people for street racing in nearby Eastchester, with street racing itself picking up during the summer months.
Police are still searching for the suspects responsible for the robbery and shooting Sunday morning.
