Mets' D'Arnaud Placed On 15-Day DL With Strained Right Rotator Cuff
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- New York Mets catcher Travis d'Arnaud has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right rotator cuff.
D'Arnaud left Monday night's game against the Cincinnati Reds in the eighth inning after feeling discomfort while trying to throw out a base stealer. D'Arnaud said he'd never experienced this feeling and would see a doctor.
"I felt it bark up," d'Arnaud told MLB.com. "I decided to say something. … I've never experienced it before."
New York filled his roster spot Tuesday by selecting the contract of catcher Rene Rivera from Triple-A Las Vegas. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, the Mets transferred right-hander Zack Wheeler, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery, to the 60-day disabled list.
D'Arnaud has had a history of injuries since joining the Mets, including a partially torn knee ligament, a fractured left foot, a concussion, a broken pinkie and a hyperextended elbow.
D'Arnaud has never played in more than 108 games for the Mets.
This season he's batting .196 with no home runs and one RBI in 13 games.
