NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- A Yonkers man has been arrested and faces drug and weapons charges.

At 4:20 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, police responded to a ShotSpotter activation after shots were fired near 550 East Tremont Ave in the Bronx.

Officers Mateusz Sajduk and Chad Poidomani approached a man holding a metal object that appeared to be a firearm.

Police say the man tossed the object into a fenced area, as the officers approached,

Officer Sajduk handcuffed the suspect, as Officer Poidomani climbed the fence and recovered a stolen, loaded, .22 caliber, Bernardelli, semiautomatic firearm, authorities said.

The suspect allegedly provided police with a false name, but was later identified as Serrod Mitchell, 19, of Yonkers.

Police say they also found a magazine containing 5 rounds, and 13 bags of marijuana.

Mitchell was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of stolen property, false personation, and unlawful possession of marijuana.
