TEANECK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police in northern New Jersey are searching for a hit-and-run driver who killed a man on Christmas night.
The crash happened around 6:45 p.m. Friday in the area of Cedar Lane and Garrison Avenue, according to police.
Witnesses said the victim, identified as 59-year-old Steven Leitgeb, was struck by an SUV that then fled the scene. Leitgeb was taken to a hospital but died there a short time later.
Police are now searching for an SUV with front passenger-side damage and possibly windshield damage.
No other injuries were reported in the accident, however, a stretch of the roadway was shut down for several hours, which caused some travel delays in the area.
