12/24 Thursday Christmas Eve Afternoon CBS2 Weather Headlines
By Mark McIntyre, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer
Merry Christmas Eve, folks! You'd be forgiven if you thought it was late spring around here - temps are gonna be in the 60s and even 70s this afternoon - 74 in NYC. The previous record of 63 was easily broken before the sun even came up. Expect a few showers and maybe some rumbles this afternoon with gusty winds... but the main story is definitely the heat.
Tonight will be mainly cloudy with areas of fog, and it's gonna be a very mild night for Santa as he makes his way to the Tri-State. Rudolph's red nose will come in handy due to the foggy & cloudy conditions... muggy too, with a low around 58. Expect more warmth tomorrow with more records possible - 64 is the magic number for tomorrow's high, and we should be able to at least tie that. Mostly dry tomorrow with a few late evening showers.
Saturday we'll see a big drop in temps with a high of only 52 along with a rain chance. Enjoy the spring-like warmth while you can, and Happy Holidays!
