NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A 52-year-old woman is seriously injured after being hit by a bus in the Bronx.

Police said the crash happened shortly before 9 p.m. at Paul Avenue and Bedford Park Boulevard in the Bedford Park section.

A Westchester County Bee Line bus appeared to be involved.

"Preliminary reports indicate that the pedestrian was running to catch a bus when contact was made with the right front of the bus," a county spokesperson told CBS2 in a statement. "The driver remained on the scene and was immediately pulled for testing."

The woman was rushed to the hospital in serious condition. Her name has not been released.

No charges are expected.
