Man Shot Dead While Holding 1-Year-Old Daughter In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- There were no arrests late Tuesday, after a 21-year-old father was shot in the Bronx while holding his young daughter and later died.

Police were called at 1:19 p.m. Tuesday, after the man was shot in front of 1535 Taylor Ave. in the Parkchester section of the Bronx.

Police said the suspect approached the victim and shot at him, but missed the first time. The victim then ran off down Taylor Avenue with his 1-year-old daughter in his arms, but the suspect fired two more rounds and struck the man in the back, police said.

The man was believed to be targeted by the gunman, police said.

Police said the man suffered a gunshot wound to the head, and was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. He was identified as Allen McQueen of the Bronx.

The suspect drove off in a gray Mercedes-Benz with unknown New York plates, police said. Police have released surveillance video of the suspect.

A Good Samaritan picked up the little girl and got her out of harm's way, sources said. She was taken to Jacobi for observation and was released with a bump on her head, police said.

Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
