NEW YORK -- Two buildings were evacuated Monday in New York City because of a reported gas main rupture.

Con Edison said a contractor damaged the gas line near Exterior Street and East 144th Street in the Bronx.

Utility crews were able to shut down the gas main, FDNY said.

Residents of at least two buildings were evacuated for about an hour.

Notify NYC said to expect delays, road closures and mass transit disruptions in the area.

No injuries were reported.
