Cashman On WFAN: Yankees Need Pitching, Not Reyes
NEW YORK (WFAN) -- From Derek Jeter's contentious contract negotiation to Hank Steinbrenner's public comments, this offseason was a strange one indeed for Yankees general manager Brian Cashman.
Jeter got his deal, but it didn't come without a price.
"It's not personal, it's business," Cashman told WFAN's Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts on Monday. "It doesn't mean we're not all on the same page."

Cashman also made headlines in April by saying injured reliever Pedro Feliciano was "abused" by the Mets the last few years.
"It's not that we're closing our eyes to the risk. We knew the risk," Cashman said. "But if you're asking me the question, 'Hey are you worried about how he was used over there?' Yeah, I was. Yeah, he was abused over there."
But back to Jeter. The Yankees' captain isn't getting younger and Mets shortstop Jose Reyes will likely hit the free agency market after this season. Do the Yankees have any interest?
"Jeter's our guy," said Cashman. "Listen, if I have $100 million to spend, allegedly ... I'm not running toward position players right now. I need pitching. I need pitching. I need pitching, pitching, pitching, pitching."
