B&C Morning Show: Yankees Getting Hot, Mets Are Not
After kicking off Monday's radio program with the thoughts of a Subway Series beginning Friday in the Bronx featuring two first-place teams, today Craig was singing a bit of a different tune.
Since that faith-filled Monday show, the Yankees have certainly held up their end of the bargain by winning their last two over the Rays and are currently just a 1/2 game behind the Orioles for first place in the AL East. As for the Mets, they have failed to get in the win column, losing three straight and have fallen to fourth in the NL East, albeit only 2.5 games out of first.
So it obviously won't be a battle of first-place teams Friday night, but Craig is now worried that this might be the beginning of the end for those scrappy Mets - who will reportedly get Jason Bay back in the lineup this afternoon when they wrap up things with the Nationals at Citi Field. As Craig aptly put it, 'the Yanks aren't going to blow it in June, but the Mets might.'
Speaking of blowing it, after jumping out the a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference Finals, the Spurs fell to the Thunder last night in Oklahoma City 107-99, ending their season with four straight losses. The Devils kept their season alive - just barely - by beating the Kings 3-1 and now trail the series 3 games to 1.
The guys also touched on some worrisome comments made by Ike Davis when he was asked about going down to the minors to try and straighten things out and the Giants give Tom Coughlin a well-deserved contract extension...
