The Mets made an early season statement last night in Philadelphia by beating down Cole Hamels and the defending NL East Champs behind Chris Young - who did it with his arm and his bat. Craig is on cloud nine, declaring that this season he plans on celebrating each Mets victory like it's their last -- because you never know what might happen tomorrow.
The Yankees blew a great performance by CC Sabathia last night, who didn't allow a run in his seven innings of work. Rafael Soriano gave up four runs in his 8th inning appearance and the Bombers eventually lost in extra innings to the Twins by a score of 5-4. Should Yankees fans be concerned? The Knicks got a win north of the border, beating the Raptors 131-118 and now head to Philadelphia tonight hoping to take a step in securing the 6th seed in the Eastern Conference playoff picture.
Boomer is a little conflicted this morning. He is obviously thrilled with the Mets and the Knicks, but with word that the Rangers will be without Ryan Callahan for the remainder of the season, he is not sure what to make of his Blue Shirts. Couple that with the fact that the Blonde Bomber's oldest child Gunnar turns 20 today and Booms himself is on the doorstep of 50 and he was just a ball of emotions...
